Chevy Small block 400 swap
Posted by: zztop
Date: April 30, 2008 04:14AM

Can I drop a Small Block 400 into a datsun 240Z?
Can I use the same bracket mount for the 350 and the chevy 350 turbo tranny?
I have all the 350 chevy parts (exhaust manifold, exhaust pipe distributor etc..)
I have to make the decision today.

Thanks

Yes!

What are you asking? The old style SBC have the same engine mount. In fact even an LT1 will bolt in the same location as an old style block LSX is different.

Since a SBC can be 265, 283, 305, 307, 327, 350, 377, 383, and 400 plus other non 'standard' setups most any cubes can be set on the same mount.

The tranny requires a mount in addition to the motor mount. Tranny have their mounts in different locations, due to the fact that transmission have many different output shafts and therefore mount locations differ. So best to decide what tranny combination you plan to use and fabricate for it.

Well a few manifolds and headers will fit...

I have to make the decision today.

I always like it when someone makes an immediate decision and starts out on a path for a project without knowing how to even mount the engine or what will fit.

Good luck
Jack
