For a hundred bucks, I'd rather not take the chance of pulling the trans again...my two cents.

Although I did buy the gripforce clutch I did get the fidanza flywheel. I would definetely invest the extra to get it. Also check out that DXD flywheel spdracer was talking about.

At least it appears more durable than the Z1 type swiss cheese flywheels.

I installed a RPS segmented with DXD kevlar clutch. Works so far. Did not notice any real negative affects of the lightness. Only when I engage the clutch at low RPMS it seems like it bogs for a bit. Need a few extra revs to get things rolling.

That would go great with one of those muffler mounted turbo kits you were so fond of.

Durable?... NOT! The "F1" flywheel is as thin as a tin can behind the pressure plate area. They warp pretty quickly from what I've heard. Never installed one on a car but have talked to some that have. Don't confuse weight reduction holes that are in non-critical areas with weight reduction on load bearing surfaces. It comes down to good design v/s good looks.

Re: interesting alternative for aluminum flywheels

I just liked the fact they were heli-coiled bolts, since I stripped a thread on my tranny when installing the side bracket back on... (I'll get it fixed when I replace my clutch obviously)

Thanks for the input!

I'll go fidanza then! I just hope I can come up with the all money I want for my goodies on such a short notice! =P haha!

RPS has heli-coiled holes as well.

I believe the RPS is not quite as light as Fidanza and some of the others.

the RPS is like 13lbs where as fidenza is 11.5 or something close to that. I REALLY wouldnt be worried about 2-4lbs difference.

Yeah cheap out on parts that are right under your legs spinning at 1000's of RPM's......just saying.

Re: interesting alternative for aluminum flywheels

Keep in mind this flywheel has a 1-piece friction plate. The heat it is subjected to is not consistent across the face of the plate and will ultimately lead to warpage of the friction plate. RPS holds a patent for the milti-plate friction plate design because it is the only configuration that will work without warpage of the friction plates. Once the friction plate warps, there is substantially less area for the disc to grab and will lead to slippage.

Any 1-piece friction plate flywheel should be avoided.

Given that reasoning; I guess the stock flywheel needs to be avoided.;)

given a little more thought... I don't think I'll drive it nearly as hard for that to happen =P

mostly daily driving and a couple of sprints now and then...

But thanks for the input though!
