Z_BUM
Just have some queries on the Z31/Z32 transmissions.
Your gearbox page contradicts itself.
You say the fs5r90a are the same as the Z32 turbo version yet you say the king daddy is the ones found on the Z31, as the FS5r30a and is found on the z32's which is the same?
So what is found on the Z32's?
So, if, if I decided to look for a pathy transmission, cheaper of course, then this should be ok? There is a dude on our aussie forum that has used z32 internals on a Z31 box I think, but I'm looking for a cheaper alternative, Z32 boxes are stupidly overpriced, too much demand. What is your opinion on gearboxes? Thanks.
My best plan would be to find a 5 speed from a wrecked cali model.
Why a cali model specifically? As far as I know there's no difference in the transmission between the cali and federal usdm/non-usdm models.
The later 87-89 cali models you said have the FS5R30A. The S3 version as redbook.com.au states them as
No I said the later 87-89 TURBO models have the FS5R30A, which is the same as the Z32 transmission, internally. The 84-86 turbos used the FS5R90A, and ALL of the N/A's have the FS5R71C.
Learn to read you stupid Aussie.

Just to take the piss out of Zbum. IE Capatian America.
In our defense as Americans. Most, if not all those people in that video were from the west coast.
If you want knowledgeable people by the masses, come to the east coast.

No the FS5R90A is the Borg Warner T5, the FS5R30A is the Z31v2/Z32 turbo tranny.
I'm pretty sure the Pathfinder will use a version of the FS5R71C, or the Z31 NA transmission. The Hardbody pickup did...
