What model is my 350z?
Hey, im a young driver, my dad just got me a car. The thing is, we dotn know what model it is. Its a 2005, it has leather and its an automatic.
Apparently something else matters, if on the dash theres a button saying TCS off or VDC it means something? Well on mine it says TCS off ...
Now ... maybe some1 can help if i can give the VIN? i dont know if that will help... but here it is: jn1az36a55m757068
Basically i wanna know if its a Enthusiast, Touring or Grand Touring ;)
Thanks alot for ur help!

yes they did ... they had touring, grand touring and enthsiast.
But even if they didnt have the grand touring, the enthusiast is still an option...
i don't believe enthusiast came with leather.
no, they didn't have grand touring in 05. they had touring and track.
But is there a way to be sure about it? cuz look, since a couple of days ago, i visited VIN Decoder websites, and beside the MODEL section, they all said : ''enthusiast/touring/grand touring.
So none of them told me what was the exact model.
But this morning i went on a website and it said it was an enthusiast... i cant freakin find the website anymore :P But yeah, even tho the differences between the 3 models are really small, i still wanna know ...
Coupe came in Base,Enthusiast,Performance,Touring and track editions.
Two roadster ed.
The track came with the 300bhp at 6400 rpms all else have the 287 at 6200.
Base would be stripped down with almost nothing like leather and VDC.
Every other car if bought new the owner could have tailored it to their own liking.
Re: aluminum sill plates, Nav, floor mats, mud flaps, spoiler etc.
I really don't think there is an actual way of telling the trim unless you bought it NEW. It is definitely difficult to tell so I guess they are all Enthusiasts for the enthusiast in all of us.
what kind of air bags does it have?
Base model didn't come with air bags.
redwings doesn't have the base model...
All cars now come with airbags. The VIN won't tell you trim level. Base had no VDC for sure and I thought it didn't come on Enthusiast either, but I could be wrong about that for the '05.
they all come with airbags, but they don't all come with side airbags. VDC doesn't tell you anything because the Touring didn't come with VDC either.
Lol...Justin I like your sense of humor.
Also, Red Wings are going to lose tonight.
MY 04.5 has VDC and is labeled Touring.
Did they change that for the 05 models?
i guess so. my 05 didn't have it.
i'm pretty sure drivenz has a link to some thread on my350z.com that spells out the differences between the trims.
So no 1 knows how i can really find out?
Jystinrhenry, u had an 05 350z? Mine is a 05 too, would it help if i post pics of the car?
ya, i had an 05 touring. so do you. ;)
you can post pictures. it couldn't hurt.

*Please note all automatic models Enthusiast up only had TCS, no VDC.
There were no major changes until the 2004.5 model, in which the suspension was changes slightly to help alleviate the "tire feathering" problem a bit. I'm not sure the exact change, but there were some small changes in the suspension that seemed to help lessen the cases, though there were some still sporadically appearing.
The next major changes wouldn't come until 2005. Nissan introduced the "Rev-Up" 300hp/260tq variant of the VQ35. It was featured in the 2005 Track and 35th Anniversary models (6-speed MT only). Major changes included VTC on the exhaust cams, improved internals, higher redline, and modified lower plenum. Also, all models recieved a new, redesigned front suspension which appears to have helped to combat the problems with tire feathering.
The 35th Anniversary model that appeared in 2005 was a mesh of the Touring and Track model. It featered the same Brembo Brakes and 300hp motor of the Track model, but all the comfort amenities of the Touring such as leather, Bose sound system, and optional Navigation. It was available in 6-speed MTor 5-speed AT, though the AT recieved the 287hp/274tq engine and did not feature VDC, just TCS. The 35th Anniversary also feature unique 18" 5-spoke rims.
The Z recieved a small redesign on 2006 to both the car itself and to the model lineup. The car recieved a slight facelift with a subtly redesigned front bumper, new Bi-Xenon headlights, and LED tailights. Also, all 6-speed models except for the Track and Grand Touring were equipped with the 18" rims from the 2005 35th Anniversary (Enthusiast AT's get the 17" rims, Touring get the 2003-2005 18" Touring rims). Under the hood, all MT models recieved the 300hp/260tq Rev-Up motors. All AT models recieved the 287hp/274tq motors.
Inside, there were some spots of added aluminum trim, as well as new steering-wheel mounted audo controls in all Enthusiast-up models.
I don't think either of these are 100% accurate, but I think it's enough to give you your answer.

Q: How can I tell the difference between the models of the 350Z?
A: The information below was derived from this thread http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?t=269606 , started by The Brickyard Rat. I have to credit him, Voboy and JDMFairladyZ33 for providing the majority of the info. I have verified it against the Sales brochures and specs for each of the model years and believe it to be true, complete and accurate. Note that this info is not 100% accurate for the Roadsters. They have their own set of exceptions to a lot of these rules.
Base: no cruise control or radio buttons on steering wheel. MT only. 17" Wheels. No HID headlights (03-05). No autodimming rear-view mirror.
Enthusiast: TCS button on lower dash below steering wheel, cloth seats but no heater switches for seats. AT or MT. 17" wheels.
Performance: VDC button on lower dash, cloth seats but no heater switches or Brembo brakes. MT only. Available 03-05.
Touring: Leather seats. Heater buttons on center console. Heated seats and outside mirrors. Bose stereo system. VDC button on lower dash. AT or MT. 17" wheels on AT, 18" on MT.
Track: Brembo brakes and VDC button. Rear spoiler, underbody air diffusers. MT only. 18" Rays Forged Wheels. Available 03-06.
Grand Touring Leather seats. BOSE stereo. Brembos brakes. VDC button on lower dash.

The thing is ... i have TCS button , not VDC ... so u were kinda wrong lol does it mean i dont have a touring? And i have cruise control
like i said.. not 100% accurate. My touring did not have VDC.
Why don't you just drive by a dealership and ask?

They probably don't have a clue either...................
justin henry is right. edmunds is wrong. there was no grand touring in '05 (unless it only came with the roadster and not the coupe).

exactly, the grand tourign was available in roadster only guys ;)
So now that i cofnirmed that my car is a touring, i just gotta check if its a touring or grand touring
you have a roadster?? psh
p.s. i think the difference in the touring and the GT is that the grand touring came with brembo brakes...

ok because i just checked the differences on the website and suprisingly, everything is the same except the Touring has Bose Sound system and the GT doesnt?
that would mean the touring is better since it has that extra option?
unless like you said the GT came with the brembo brakes...
All upgrade models also have Limited Slip Diffs (LSD), the base does not, which is a huge reason to buy a non-base model. LSD is a drastic handling improvement if you like spirited driving, tracking the car, or taking it out in rain/snow.

It's a Touring.
They didn't have Grand Touring in 2005.
