Everyone say "Helllooo ZX"

Its My second 82 ZX. The first was 12 yrs ago. It had 130k and needed floor boards, and other various rust repair. I did some patches and painted it to look nice. Rust came back and I moved on. I bought it When I was 18 from my dad who moved on to the next phase of his mid life crisis into a 85 300z

Lately my wife and I wanted a fun car with some open tops that we can enjoy on the weekends. I thought back to my first ZX and started looking. I found one 3.5 hrs from here(NY) in State College PA. A lovely family was selling it due to their parents, who owned it since new, passed away.

Its an 82 280zx non-turbo with 51k,garage kept with all nissan dealer service records and Original paint. We made the trip the second time and drove it home. approx 350 miles with no probs.
Well here it is.

WOW!!
Now that 280ZX there is in perfect shape! I'm so jealous, I've never found a 280ZX in that kind of shape but I've always wanted to own one.. I like the color too. Almost identical to my '85 300ZX's color. Nice car!

Re: BRONCTAIL'Z ZX

Your car is nice and clean (is that a turbo hood in the picture or just a shadow) And under the hood looks spotless. It aggravates me everytime I open my hood, I keep mine pretty clean as well but it always looks like a rats nest of vacuum lines and fuel rails, I rack my brain trying to come up with a way of cleaning it up but so far have come up empty.

But yeah the car looks great.

If you cant dazzle them with brains then baffle them with bullshit

Re: BRONCTAIL'Z ZX

Not really sure what a turbo hood looks like. Both my cars where pretty original So I dont think so. As for the engine, thats why I put the valve cover and grey wires on to break it up some. I really wanted ngk wires but only grey I can find was Bosch. I've seen one pick of a guy routing his ing wires around the front of the valve cover and then down the side. I plan to do that with the three vaccum lines that go over the VC when I change all the vaccum hoses.Theres a guy on ebay that sells a kit if you havent seen him.

Thats the way all hoods on '82 + '83 ZX's were, turbo or not. I think '81 as well

Very nice acquisition!

To me there is nothing more rewarding than finding an older car with low miles, that is well kept and in ultra clean shape. It is icing on the cake when it is a Z!!!

Nice find and it fits your need for an affordable fun weekender. I will bet you find yourself driving it more often than cruising it. These cars are addictive and just down right fun to drive.

Hope you get lots of seat time hours out of that Z. In that kind of shape, you should be able to enjoy that one as long as you want to!

That color combination is one of my favorites as well.

Enjoy and thanks for sharing it with us!

WOW, I'm sooo honored. I don't know what to say. I'd like to thank the Academy and all the little people that made this possible and I promise to do everything in my power to help us all visualize whirled pea's.

Thanks Guys! This means a lot.

Nice deal you got there, especially in the north. To you guys wondering about the hoods. The turbo hood, (the one with the scoop that actually cools of the turbo, not for air intake,) came out in 1981 for turbo cars only, witch by the way were all automatics. then in 1982 and 1983 all models used the same hood.

1972 240z,1983zx turbo,1988 300zx & 1985 720 truck 4x4 to haul Z parts around. I have parts from 75-83 and believe in 101% customer satisfaction. "ENJOY THE RIDE"

Appreciate the thought but the vacuum lines I'm talking about are under the throttle body and distributor, unless Im not looking at the right picture. The only picture I saw was on top of the engine. Nice car though.
