That statement makes no sense.

Oops, lost the quote somehow. That statement is what I was referring to.

FACTS
So this started 2 years ago....
The car's been SITTING except for the occasional start up.
Its a 91/N/A/Auto
Runs & drives
Burns through fuel
Black smoke

Data requests
Read codes
Verify black ( not bluish ) smoke out of tailpipes... not under car
Smell FPR & Damper Vac lines for fuel
Verify oil level and smell of oil
Compression test

Possibilities
ECU temp sender
Bad FPR/ damper ( raw fuel getting into intake )
Injector stuck open
REALLY bad rings ( with raw fuel combo )
Oil leaking on exhaust

Short of this everything is a guess based on personal experience...

More INPUT

Mike

Oh I see what you mean. I think he was referring to how smoothly it was running, and that suggesting it must be running on all six.

"Robustness" was a poor word choice...

Okay I'm back in South Louisiana this week and will take a shot at the codes. I just had my 2003 Ranger lose a belt - thank god it's a low compression motor so a quick change and no problem.

Thanks again to all you super nice cool guys for taking the sincere time, and I do mean sincere time to try to help me figure this **** thing out. I miss driving it.

Its not a low compression motor. It's interference motor or non-interference motor. Yeah make sure that doesn't happen to the Z lol.

Forgot to mention for the sake of full disclosure, but for some reason the electric fans are coming on the moment the key is put into the ignition position prior to turning the key. This has been going on the moment the major issue took place.

Also, I could not pull codes. The red light stays solid no matter how many times I turn it clockwise, pause 2 seconds, and then counterclockwise. Anyone have a clue as to what is going on there or what perhaps, I am doing wrong.

I can't mess with it for another 2 weeks as I am 600 miles away.

So far as the comment about not letting that happen to your Z, a high compression sports car, I've had an 84 turbo lose the belt with a total loss on Christmas eve, so yeah, I am quite aware of that.

Thanks in advance

Can any gurus relate this to the problem? And are the two statements contradictory?--as in the light(s) stay on for bulb check in Mode I and then saying below that, there is a malfunction in the ECU.
