my car "bogs" on hills

I just bought an 85 300zx n/a stick w/ 106,000 miles. Its in great shape and runs great (usually). except once and awhile it bogs down when I go up big hills. I thought maybe I was shifting too fast, but it still does it when I keep it in lower gear. Once it starts to bog down, the only thing I can do is pull over and start over in 1st.
The car sat for a long time and I haven't cleaned up the engine (new spark plugs, fuel injector cleaner, etc.). I'm hoping this will work, if not could my problem be with the fuel system or clutch.

Any help would be appreciated, thanx in advance

Check your timing, and your fuel pressure. Also do you notice any black smoke in coming from your exhaust?

no black smoke. Also, I forgot to mention it, but there is also a sensor light on. It just says "sensor". Could this be related or just another problem?

that sensor light is a odometer triggered reminder to get the o2 sensor checked.

Re: catalytic converter

If it corrects itself when starting over. I would doubt it is an o2 sensor. Check your exhaust system. Tap on your catalytic converter(looks like a muffler under you seats, under car of course). If you hear a rattle (like a can full of rocks) it is bad. You are not getting the exhaust out and creating too much back pressure.on the engine. Usually when you drive at low rpm it is not as noticable but the higher the spped and rpm you will see a drop in performance. Did not mean to say red is wrong, just another possibilty.

In the "etc." did you include the air filter? You might want to take a look at it if you haven't done that.
