Budget IC Piping

Hey guys, well i have seen some good info on the Large NPR Intercooler and i am very interested in getting one, these are easy to install and fit nicely right?

Also i dont want to go stainless piping every where ($$$) so whats the next best thing or value for money?

Thanks

Re: Budget IC Piping

Yeah stay away from PVC cause it doesn't work.....umm, wait, it works fine. Everyone told me not to do it, it's been over a month now and I'm running 12 psi and the pipe is FINE. I'd say use the PVC as a template to get some 2.5 aluminum mendral bent, that's what I plan on doing.

Re: Budget IC Piping

Has anyone used mild steel and then had them jet hot coated?

Re: Budget IC Piping

Mild steel works just fine. The outside and inside of the pipes can be spray painted. Yes, the inside paints just fine with a spray can.

I sprayed the paint in from both sides and it does a nice job coating the inside. Of course jet coating would be better but I didn't think it justified the price.

Re: Budget IC Piping

Yeah that was my idea. I know TONS of people who run a KA24DET in their 240s who do budget turbo swaps who are running PVC. But one day I just thought "****, I can buy a ton of PVC for like, $20?" So i'll go to Home Depot one day, get an 8ft long 2.5" PVC pipe (Or whatever diameter you're going to use, with an assortment of bends, cut it to fit, whatever length I need, whatever I want the pipe to do, cut it and slap your bends on there, once you have it set up and hooked up, bring it all to the machine shop (or your fav pro shop, whatever shop you want!) and tell them you want purdy metal in the shape of this *points to PVC*
