How'd you disassemble so much? What did you do about all the trim around the windows and such? Any advice otherwise?

Everything came off then the chassis was cleaned and sand blasted in a few spots. Once the color change on the chassis was done, everything that went back on was either cleaned/new/refurbed. I guess it took a year of free time to get it right. It's my daily driver.

Oh, it was my first time to rebuild an engine and to rebuild a car from the inside out. Kinda fun...

The early 260's, with little bumpers, were a 240 with a bigger motor. The later 260's, with the big bumpers, were a 280 with a smaller motor. An early 260 is as sweet as a 240, especially when you de-smog it.

Nothing wrong with 260Zs, its just an odd-ball car. I'd gladly take a early 260Z over a 280Z. Like others have said the 260Z is just like a '73 240Z except it has a bigger engine, better interior, and different tail lights.

Ok 260Z owners! How many of you get asked if it is a 240 or even a 280Z? I get that all the time. But in their defence i think i only have one 260Z emblem on the car though... I like mine and i am biased. I like the 240Z, 260Z, and the 90-96' 300zx.

What I don't understand is that to me the 280Z is what I think of first when I hear datsun Z, the one that gets all of the attention. why? who knows, maybe b/c its fuel injected, but 2 years (youngin i am) in the "scene" it seems NOW like the 240 is what FIRST comes to mind to everyone when they hear datsun Z...

If you ask me, carbureted cars piss me off. They're sloppy and inefficient as **** on the fuel system, plus I always imagine them as running richer than they need to, or not atomizing fuel into a good mist and need to be serviced more than injectors. And while its fan-F'n-tastic for you to find one in good shape, any 240s in my ballpark would be rustbucket 200k+ milers and to me thats not worth it on top of the cost it would take for an amateur like me to compete for the market of rare original parts "available" for it. Grandio that its reputation comes from being "lightweight" Why is it so lightweight?? Probably because half the thing is rusted out! Thats why.

Being easier to work on doesn't really justify it for me, esp when compared to modern engines, even a 280ZX engine doesnt seem that hard at all even if you don't know what everything does, just plug it all back in the way it was.

Hey brad, Nice interior on your ZX. But thats pretty much all the niceities i could say. BTW their are guys here that have 240Z's that are WAY nicer than a ZX... But as i said before i am biased. I see alot more ZX's that should be used for demolishion derbies than driven on the roads. But somebodies gotta love them right? Might as well be you. You did a nice job bring your rig back to life. No one can deny that...
