My rocker panel is in!

Hi all! After a lot of hard work, my new rocker panel is in! I worked several hours two days in a row to get it fitted. Then i got my hubby to do the welding. I still need to grind down the welds to clean and smooth them out.

I thought that all of you would enjoy some pics of after I removed the panel and some of the new panel installed.

I had to fabricate part of the inner rocker panel, 2 pics are of that from the inside.

These first two are right after I removed the old one.

These two are of my new inner rocker.

These four are of the new one installed.

Re: My rocker panel is in!

You did this and then got your "hubby" to do the welds! I'm way impressed. Not that I think women are dumb or incapable -- not a chance -- just that so few women want to get their hands dirty working on a car. Especially metal work.

Way cool. Now, how do I convince my wife that working on cars can be as fun as riding our horses . . .

Re: My rocker panel is in!

Yeah, bakachan it does have rust in the frame rails, but not so badly that I have to do something with it immediately. I just haven't decided whether to try to replace them or fabricate some out of channel iron or something else. I just need a workable plan.

When I first bought the car, I didn't know didley about them. When I got it home and started playing with it was when I found all the rust. I knew that the only way it would get fixed is for me to do it myself and my hubby knew didley less than I did. Thanks to zcar.com, I have changed that for myself at least. I can do a lot of the body work and I have been getting deeper and deeper into these cars.

Thanks for all of the good comments! And thanks to Kammy who hosted the pictures for me!
