Turbo or Supercharger kits...240z

HI, I just had a question. Does anyone know any Turbochargers or Superchargers out there that will give my 73' 240z and extra kick in the @ss? I found a Turbo kit and a Supercharger at Jim Cook Racing but there Turbo kit cost $4,000 dollars if I remember right ( and they told me that it doesn't even come in a kit anymore ) and I heard there Supercharger isn't worth the money because it doesn't put out much extra HP. I really would perfer not to do an engine swap from a L28T, I would rather stick with my L24 so that I can say that it is a true 240z. thanks ahead of time for any suggestions.

Put your hard earned money into the Suspension of a early Z car. They are 30plus years old and Honda's outrun 'em in straight line acceleration to 60mph UNLESS ..... well the "unless" is what you are asking now. Well....an F-54 block. P-90 square port head. A tuned header and a 3inch exhaust. A R-200 differential with 3.9 gearing and a 5speed from a 81-83 ZX will have your 73 240 thinking like a kid on steroids. Seriously. And most of this is without the expense and complications of a supercharger or the Vane hassles of a Turbo. Goodluck. shane-

None of us is as smart as all of us. Lots of Z's. One porsche '917K' built by me. One 70' Lotus Europa with a 4-AGZE engine supercharged built by me. Impossibe things to do before breakfast are my speciality ! Happy Trails !

Another thought that would retain your current bottom end 2.4L 240Z motor....Get the top end of a ZXT motor, in other words mount a P-90 head with a turbo exhaust manifold and intake along with the electronics to convert it from carbs to F.I. You would have to ask a turbo guru about the specific problems but this could be nicely done for $1000-$1500.

1971 240Z series 1 with a 22,000 serial#, all original and 99% rust free.

I no longer have the black bumperless 78 with the ZX drivetrain.

cheap power... hhuummm, kinda funny. you will have to spend a little cash somewhere to have a nicely done setup but, it can be done with little expence.
this is what i would do...... (on a tight budget)
find a 81-83ZX complete motor (100.00)
go through the bottom end.. do it yourself (about$100.00) machineshop ($500.00)
have the head shaved 80thousands and jackup the cam towers (about $150.00)
have the flywheel shaved on both sides (loose about 5 pounds $60.00)
81-83 trans ($50.00-$100.00)
3:90 ($50.00-$100.00)or even 4:11 rear end ($50.00-$400.00)
no turbo or SC and you will be able to beat the crap out of most hondas out there and you will have a almost new (rebuilt) motor and later model drivetrain.
the 240Z is pretty light and it really moves with the later drivetrain.
now keep in mind that if you find ppl stripping cars for certain parts for their projects. you may be able to get a few parts off of them for little to nothing if you help them out a little by helping them with their projects. one hand washes the other, so to speak.. parts tradeing is a good way to get parts. 81-83ZX's are everywhere and i see them in yards all the time. good luck.. pallnet

nitrous? that can be done for a few hundred...and if you blow the motor you can always get a l28 out of a 280zx...or find a 280zxt motor....
