To start, I have a 75 280z cali model. I've recently rebuilt the engine and now currently trying to get it to run properly. I've got fuel/air, spark, and compression. The engine will start and run for a couple of mins then die. It gives up, doesint instantly die. When I go to start it again it just cranks. I've got the problem down to fuel. Because I can go and remove the injector relay, crank and it'll start and run with what's ever in the cylinders then die. I can then reconnect the relay and it'll start up. I can no longer think of what else it can be so I come to you.

A little info on the car

Fuel: 40psi via a gauge right after fuel filter. New lines, fpr, and new o rings on all injectors.

Air: new afm, throttle body, air pressure regulator. Egr delete

Spark: new wires, spark plugs, distributor, and coil.

Tests I've done: comprehension is above 120 on all cylinders. All injectors fire. Timeimg set to 10 btdc.

You have a most unusual Z-car, with comprehension!

Seriously, that's pretty decent compression. I'll pass on the rest of the diagnosis...

Really? Fsm says it should be around 160.

Have you preformed all FSM diagnostic tests? If not start there. If you're sure you have good fuel (40PSI at crank sounds about right, should lower to ~28PSI when running), spark and airflow, once everything is within FSM spec, if the car still isn't running, try the following:

Here's a test that isn't in the FSM. When I was working on my car, it had similar problems. It would run GREAT, idle good, drive okay, as long as I wasn't mashing the gas. Try to measure the voltage between the ECU and a ground source. In my case, the ECU was grounding the injectors, they were staying on all the time. When anything shifted barely, the ECU would no longer ground, and the car would die. My ECU had failed.

You didn't mention new fuel filter. A plugged one might cause these symptoms.
Did the car run correctly before the rebuild?

Sounds like your coolant temperature sensor (CTS) is unplugged or maybe the plug is swapped with the thermotime switch. It's flooding with fuel, when you unplug the injection relay the injectors stop spraying and the cylinders clear out.

Test the CTS resistance at the ECU connector to be sure.
