Removing Inline Heat Cotrol Manifold Thermostat to avoid fuel percolation

I am trying to tackle fuel percolation on both of my carbs on my 1972 240z and was recommended the following:

1. Remove Inline heat control thermostat and plug the lines on the back of both carburetors. --------------- DONE

2. Install heat shield extensions covering both fuel bowls on both carbs. ---------------- DONE

3. Replace the original metal fuel rail with rubber fuel hose and route it through the firewall away from the cam cover and engine. ----------- Still not accomplished.

I did noticed that now with the inline thermostat removed i need to leave the choke pulled for more than 1 mins for the engine to warm up. Is this normal? will this solve my fuel percolation issue? RPM dropping at idle from 950 to 650 when driving during traffic jams.
