hello, new guy here. I've always wanted z, and i have my eye on this car to start for a project, but he says it's a 73 280z. i know the 280 didn't start production until 1975, and i also know the vin is very similar between the 240 and the 280. any other numbers on the car i can use to tell? maybe how the engine is marked, maybe a year code on the frame? i'd appreciate any help you guys can give me.
Also on the engine block and header there should be a casting number that tells what engine/head you have in there. can't remember specifically, but search the forums/google and it should come up.
Bumper shocks on the front are 280z, not 240. Hood looks like a 75 or 76 with the raised center. 77 & 78 had the vents in the hood. A $500 project sounds like you better be good at welding, but luckily new floors and rails aren't that much. I too love the paint scheme. It has that funky mid 70's look. When you have it repainted, duplicate that if you can. Please post your progress on here if you buy it.
I totally missed the shock for the bumper out the front....also the fender has 280z been emblems on it....
Yes 280z...
