Ok. Finished brakes up earlier so I did a few things.

I pulled the exhaust down tube off, no difference. Exhaust is ruled out.

I blocked off and removed every single vacuum connection again, no difference. Made a video, excuse the orientation, the camera phone does not know which way is up when I'm holding it pointing down I guess.

also, not sure if it's the cheap timing light, or what. When I hook up to the wires and just shoot the light at something, the flashing is not the same. It seems to stutter as well. I know inductive timing lights are not probably the most accurate thing, I know inductive tachometers aren't that accurate so I'm figuring it doesn't mean anything. I was going to try and hook it up to my truck, but doesn't have plug wires so..

And 15.5?? Keerisst!

So that leaves...

Leak from throttle plate bearings...
Leak from intake
Crack on intake
Cam not opening all the way ( flattened lobe ) .
TDC not accurate
Small mouse with air hose.....
( this is now an official pain in my brain )

We verified TDC accurate. And verified it again with the timing gear. You can scratch that off the list.

And wouldn't throttle plate bearing leak suck up propane and carb cleaner? I bathed it. Same with crack on intake, unless it's in the EGR mount.

I'll check the cam tomorrow. I've got some digital calipers, I suppose that will suffice ?

Digital calipers.....Yep that will do......

"And wouldn't throttle plate bearing leak suck up propane and carb cleaner?" Yes it would and with the pseudo boost leak test.. air would escape.

I think it's Aliens.... things are NOT adding up....

Somethings lying...

Confirm that if you crank the AFM fwd an additional 7 teeth rich.. the vac goes UP??

Definitely vac goes up, even after correcting idle. Right now it's at 6 teeth up. I've run it as high as 12 teeth up and drove it. That's where it was the first time I tried it and it ran pretty good except fell flat on power after 3000 rpm. When I set it 12 teeth up, about 15 or 16 teeth up had it idling the highest, but on blues tech tips he recommended backing it off the highest idle point by 4 teeth which is how I ended up at 12. I can get the vac up to about 17 or 17.5 using the AFM in that manner. The miss can still be occasionally heard though, even though it smooths out tremendously.

If I do a leak down test, and lets say it leaks down more than allowable. How will I know if that's rings or valve seats ?
