Re: hooked up battery wrong need help
zxtoy, its easier than you think, here's how I did it.
The car had sat for 27 years, battery that was in there, disconnected, was shot as you could imagine, put new one in. Hooked up one cable, other cable made a 'larger' than normal arc, yet it went on. The corner of my eye saw smoke being let out of the fuseable link and I quickly pulled the cable off.
What happened? The old battery was was spec for the car, dealership put it in at the overhaul, the positive post is closest to the engine, not so on the new battery. Also, both battery cables & ends were black, bad glasses and both cables going down in the same direction. Add to that my excitement of getting a newly overhauled engine, (27 years ago) going again. Accidents and stupid mistakes do happen.
Got a new link, a new pair of battery cables, ONE RED. All other wiring was ok. phew, never again.
